FAQ's
Q. When is a puppy old enough to come to its new home?
A. At least 8 weeks old, unless it is too small or too immature.
Some puppies take a little longer to wean from their mothers. We wait
until the puppy is ready.
Q. How can I choose a puppy without making a trip to Alabama?
A. We can send you photos of the puppy via email or snail mail.
We also give you a description of the puppy's personality as he matures waiting
to come home.
Q. If I can't come to you, how can I get my puppy?
A. We can fly your puppy to you.
Q. How much trouble is it to fly the puppy to me?
A. None at all. Since we'll have your information, we can take
care of it. You can even check in on him by calling the airline's
cargo office.
Q. Is it OK for my puppy to fly?
A. Puppies do very well traveling by air. Haven't you ever saw
Snoopy?
Q. What kind of container will my puppy be flying in?
A. He will be in a pet taxi (carrier) equipped with ventilation slots,
food and water dishes, and he'll have all his airline information labels with
him, just like a real passenger.
Q. How do I know that my puppy is a healthy one?
A. Before we let him go, he gets a health exam so you know he's in good
shape, plus we guarantee that he's had his vaccinations and is leaving up free
of communicable diseases.
Q. What will it cost for my puppy to fly?
A. It depends on where you live. He will be flying out of Huntsville
International Airport, Huntsville, Alabama. The cargo office can
give you the cost, or email us with the name of your airport, and we'll send you
back the information.
Q. How about the weather? Can my puppy fly when it's real cold?
A. Sometimes it can be to cold to send the puppy, so we wait a few days
for it to warm up before we send him.
Q. How do I pay for my puppy; what is your payment policy?
A. You send us a cashier's check for: $20 for the health check,
around $30 for the pet taxi, the price of airfare, and of course, the
puppy. We must receive your check before we send the puppy.
Q. What do I need to do when my puppy gets to the airport?
A. Most important: Be There! You can call the airport to
see when the plane is scheduled to arrive. Your puppy has just had a long
flight, so don't make him wait. Have some white corn syrup, some water,
and a can of puppy food, unless you only live a few minutes from the
airport. You also need to have a collar and a leash to walk him for a few
minutes after taking him out of his carrier. After the walk let him make a
pit stop and offer him some food and water. Make sure you give him a half
tablespoon of corn syrup, whether he eats or not. After another short
walk, he should be ready to go home.
Q. OK, we're home, what do we do now?
A. After another short walk, let him explore his new home a little and
show him you love him. Don't grab him, you're pretty big and scary to a
little puppy in a new environment. Don't let little children chase
him. Give him some room. After he's explored, he'll probably
be hungry, so show him where his food is. Finally, call or email us
and let us know that he's OK. We love all of our dogs and we want to be
sure they made it safe to their new homes.
Q. When does my puppy need to go to the vet?
A. Ask your local vet when he needs his next shots, but it's usually
around 3 weeks. Of course, if he gets sick or quits eating, take him to
the vet immediately.
Q. Are your puppies registered?
A. Yes, all of our puppies are registered and are the result of careful
breeding with only the best dogs. We'll send the registration papers and a
4 to 5 generation pedigree with the puppy.
Q. Does my puppy come with a guarantee?
A. Yes, we take pride in our puppies being healthy and guarantee that
they are free of communicable diseases and congenital defects. Our sires
and dams are top notch dogs and receive vaccinations and worming regularly.
Q. Did my puppy get any shots before I received him?
A. Yes. We begin worming and vaccinating our puppies when they
are 2 weeks old. They get them every week until they leave us. Ask
your local vet what vaccinations he needs after coming to live with you.
It varies depending on what part of the country you are in.
Q. Will you be there to answer my questions after I get my puppy?
A. Sure. We will answer any questions and help you as best as we
can. After caring for him for 7 or 8 weeks, we want to hear all about
him.
